If you want to maximize the space and give your garden a more romantic look, turn your fence into a hard-working trellis, thanks to westphoria.sunset.com for sharing this idea! Made out of items from the hardware store—and sturdier than a stand-alone trellis—this version supports pole beans, morning glory, and vigorous hop vines that would otherwise ramble. Mount four 5-in. square wood blocks, one for each corner, to a strong fence using wood screws. Attach a loop hook to each wood block. Hang each corner of a sheet of welded remesh (typically used for reinforcing concrete and sold in 3 1/2- by 7-ft. sheets) over a loop hook. Voila!
